LINCOLN — John Jentz has been hired as a senior associate athletics director-chief financial officer at Nebraska, Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst announced Thursday.
“I am very pleased to announce that John Jentz will be joining our senior management team at the University of Nebraska,” Eichorst said. “He is an extremely experienced and respected administrator who brings an exceptional skill set that greatly benefit Husker Athletics.”
Jentz's responsibilities will include:
» Serve as a member of the senior management team and provide administrative and strategic leadership for the department.
» Direct and oversee all financial and Business Office operations, including development and implementation of annual operating and capital project budgets as well as all accounting functions.
» Direct and oversee department's financial master plan.
» Direct and oversee Human Resources.
» Direct and oversee gift, gift-in-kind and complimentary ticket accounting policies, procedures, approvals and reconciliation.
» Direct and oversee risk management.
» Direct and oversee management of sport program camp and clinic operations.
Jentz joins Nebraska after serving four years as senior associate athletic director/chief financial officer at UCLA, where his primary duties included management of the department's financial master plan and annual budget.
Prior to UCLA, Jentz spent more than nine years at the University of Wisconsin. He also was at Cal State Fullerton for four years.
A 1992 graduate of Brigham Young University, Jentz began his administrative career at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where he was a graduate assistant to the athletic director while earning his Master's Degree in Sports Management in 1993. John and his wife, Nancy, have five daughters: Kristy, Marin, Emma, Serena and Lindsay.
