Omahans will get plenty of new places to kick back, relax and drink in 2014. Dates for openings are tentative.
The Android Factory, Jan. 20
The city's newest nerd haven, The Android Factory, will open on Jan. 20. The bar will be a haven for geeks to watch their favorite shows and play some games. Alcohol will not be served until Feb. 15.
Omaha Beer Week, Feb.14-23
Beer lovers should mark their calendars for Omaha Beer Week, which will take over numerous downtown, Midtown and Benson bars and breweries.
Not Goldenrod Brewing, February or March
The brewery formerly known as Goldenrod Brewing will open up at 3562 Farnam St. sometime in late February or early March. Co-owner Tony Thomas said the brewery will be making many barrel-aged beers and farmhouse ales. It will also provide a menu with plenty of Midwestern fare and beer-infused dishes. A new name will come sometime soon.
Scriptown Brewing, early summer
Scriptown Brewing will open at 3922 Farnam St. The new brewery will be run by Scott Stephens, who owns Lot 2 and Baxter's, and John Fahrer, a brewer for both restaurants. Fahrer will take on the brewing at Scriptown.
In Benson, boozey game spot Beercade will get a face lift when it moves next door to a larger space sometime in late spring. The current location at 6102 Maple St. will close briefly for some remodeling and reopen as a theme-less neighborhood bar.
Bar and restaurant 1912 will open at 6201 Maple St. sometime this spring. Owner Joe Carmichael, who also owns Burke's Pub, said 1912 will offer “upscale bar food” with locally sourced burgers, sandwiches and more. The new spot is complete with a rooftop deck.
Omaha Beer Fest, June 6-7
Omaha Beer Fest will celebrate brews of all kinds with a two-day event in Stinson Park.
Omaha Crush, Aug. 2
If you prefer a glass of vino, the Omaha Crush festival (formerly known as the Riverfront Wine Festival) will provide you with plenty of wine, food and art at Stinson.
