KEARNEY, Neb. — The Archway will be closed to the public Wednesday through Feb. 28, the attraction’s board of directors announced.
The temporary closure will allow staff and volunteers to complete maintenance at the arch over Interstate 80 before the grand reopening March 1.
“The facility has been open almost non-stop for 13 years, and this closure provides a great opportunity to focus on the rebranding of the facility and the grand reopening,” said Joel Johnson, president of the Archway’s board.
Earlier this month, the Archway board repaid the last of its creditors after an October ruling in federal bankruptcy court allowed the attraction to pay bondholders $50,000 of the $20 million they were owed.
The Archway also owed various vendors and other businesses about $121,000, and it repaid those creditors $50,000.
