LINCOLN -- Authorities are investigating a fiery semitrailer truck crash that killed two people and blocked Interstate 80 near Lincoln for more than an hour.
The crash happened northwest of Lincoln near the Northwest 48th Street exit around noon Wednesday. The eastbound truck caught fire and emitted significant smoke.
U.S. Express of Chattanooga, Tenn., told the Nebraska State Patrol that the semi was hauling dry goods and driven by a husband and wife team from Canton, Ohio.
State Trooper Tim Salmen told the Lincoln Journal-Star two people were in the truck when it crashed.
The westbound lanes of I-80 were closed for about an hour. The eastbound lanes of the interstate didn't reopen until about 1:45 p.m.
