Omaha police said a 24-year-old woman critically injured in a shooting early Sunday outside a southwest Omaha nightclub has died.
Officer Michael Pecha, a police spokesman, said Janee K. Hadan of Omaha died of her wounds Sunday afternoon at Creighton University Medical Center. Two Omaha men, Gary M. Lockett, 30, and Brandon D. Patterson, 23, were recovering at Creighton from injuries they suffered in the shooting, he said.
Pecha said officers were called to Roxbury Plaza near 108th and Q Streets about 1:50 a.m. to investigate a shooting. They found Hadan with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Otoniel Ojeda-Alvarez, who owns the Passion Lounge at 10841 Q St., said it appears the woman was shot while sitting in a car in the parking lot.
“There was a bullet hole through the windshield on the driver’s side,” Ojeda-Alvarez said.
Only Hadan was taken to a hospital by Fire Department paramedics. Lockett was taken to Bergan Mercy Medical Center and Patterson went to Lakeside Hospital by private vehicles. Both were later taken to Creighton with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not announced any arrests.
Ojeda-Alvarez said the incident occurred outside the club and didn’t involve anyone he knew who had been inside his business. He said he is in the process of selling the lounge but declined to identify the potential buyer.
“Nothing happened inside at all,” he said. “(The shooting) was not close to us. It was something that happened outside.”
Hadan’s shooting death is the 44th homicide reported in Omaha this year. The city recorded 39 homicides in 2012 and 37 in 2011.
