Farrell's eXtreme Body Shaping is hosting the third annual Kick-A-Thon on Friday at the 76th and Dodge location in Omaha.
The 24-hour kickboxing event benefits the Open Door Mission food drive.
“It's a great thing to be able to do, to provide for people that need it,” said event organizer Bridget Kilawee.
Members and nonmembers can attend. Admission is canned food items or a financial donation.
Roughly 200 people participated in last year's event and donated more than 1,800 pounds of food and $700. Kilawee, who owns the Farrell's gym at 180th and Q Streets, hopes to surpass last year's numbers.
There are six Farrell's locations in Omaha and the surrounding area, including one in La Vista and one in Bellevue. Together, the gyms boast about 1,200 members.
“With that many people, if we come together, we can make a difference,” Kilawee said.
The kickboxing classes, which are 55 minutes, start every hour beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday. The last class is at 4 p.m. on Saturday. You do not need to register to attend.
