“I'm ready for a nap,” Wynonna Judd says.
The singer has had a long year that included a stint on “Dancing With the Stars,” a new shoe line and helping her husband, drummer Cactus Moser, recover from a motorcycle accident in which he lost a leg.
She's capping off the year with a series of Christmas concerts, including one at Ralston Arena, and she's happy to be singing over the holiday season.
The Grammy winner, who got her start singing with her mother, Naomi, as one half of The Judds, said she's grateful for her family and her husband's health. And she's grateful not to be schlepping to the mall trying to find the perfect gift.
Her attitude comes from when she was very young, and her family — including half-sister and actress Ashley Judd — had very little.
“I bought my mother a hammer for Christmas. We cut down our own Christmas tree,” Judd said. “And those were the most memorable Christmases of my life. We had people, enough food to eat and each other — Ashley, my mom and I. I miss that. We're all so successful that we don't see each other as much.”
After her tour, she plans on taking a break in some comfortable clothes. Then it's back to finishing her coming album, which she's making with her husband.
“I am back to the well trying to find out how to, let's say, survive the next 30 years in music.”
