Before firing a fatal gunshot, LaToya Ross accused her victim of being a snitch, prosecutors told a Douglas County judge on Wednesday.
Ross, 30, is charged with the first-degree murder in the Saturday shooting of Dawn Truman, 41. Ross also is charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a stolen firearm. Douglas County prosecutors said the gun was stolen in Council Bluffs.
Douglas County Court Judge Marcela Keim ordered Ross held without bail.
The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday at 3602 Patrick Ave. Prosecutors did say why Ross accused Truman of being a snitch. But they said gunfire followed the accusation. Truman was dead when firefighters and police arrived.
David Beckman, 37, lives at the home where the shooting occurred. He has said that neither woman lives there, and he wasn’t present when the shooting occurred.
Ross has been living with her parents, an attorney told the judge.
