Registration for the 2014 Omaha Marathon is now open, organizers announced Tuesday. The event is Sept. 21.
The Team Jack Foundation, which funds research for pediatric brain cancer, is the official charity of the race. If they choose, runners will be able to donate to the cause when they register.
HITS Endurance, a national event-production company based in New York, owns the Omaha Marathon. They purchased the rights to the race earlier this year for an undisclosed amount. Next year's marathon will mark the company's second time organizing the Omaha event.
The marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. The route will again include a lap inside TD Ameritrade Park in downtown Omaha.
Last year roughly 4,000 people participated in the event. Race director Mark Wilson said in September that he expects to double that number in 2014.

An earlier version of this story said the runs spanned two days. HITS has since changed the date of the event to Sept. 21.
