UNO announced the signing of two women's basketball players to national letters of intent: guards Remy Davenport of Blue Springs, Mo., and Annie Penquite of Des Moines.
Davenport, 5-foot-8, averaged 11.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals last season for Blue Springs South as a junior. During her freshman season, she set a school record with 60 made 3-pointers.
“Remy has a great feel for the game and a high basketball IQ,” said Brittany Lange, UNO's interim coach. “She is a special shooter who has unlimited range and a great ability to score.”
Penquite, 5-10, averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds for Class 5-A state champion Southeast Polk. She led the team with 39 3s and shot a team-best 85.7 percent from the free throw line.
“Annie is a consistent, tough defender and competitor who will fit our style of play very well on both ends,” Lange said. “She is a strong guard with the ability to shoot the 3 very well.”
