Ashley Jansen moved into the setter's role for Creighton over the weekend and did well, coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth said Monday.
Jansen replaced Michelle Sicner, who had been the starter.
Creighton beat Villanova and Georgetown with Jansen quarterbacking the team. She had 39 assists, 10 digs and three kills against the Hoyas.
“We're still trying to figure out our best lineup,” Booth said. “We'll see how things proceed this week and the weeks to come.”
Jansen is a 5-foot-7 sophomore from Omaha Marian who has played defensive specialist for the Bluejays, 18-6 and 9-3 in the Big East.
Booth said she brings great energy, leadership and composure to the Bluejays.
“She did a great job for us this weekend, just as Michelle has done a great job for us,” Booth said. “We just felt like it was going to be the best thing to continue to move our team forward.”
Creighton will close out the road portion of its league schedule when it visits St. John's on Friday at 4 p.m. and Seton Hall on Saturday at 3 p.m.
