CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — Police in eastern Iowa got some unlikely help in stopping a vehicle fleeing from officers.
The Des Moines Register reports that the Friday night chase near Cedar Rapids ended when the fleeing vehicle hit a deer and rolled.
Cedar Rapids Police say the chase began when an officer tried to stop the vehicle around 4 p.m., but the driver sped off. Police lost sight of the vehicle, but a Linn County sheriff's deputy spotted it and turned on his lights and sirens.
The vehicle continued until it hit a deer, when it entered a ditch and rolled.
The two occupants in the vehicle were injured and taken to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
The severity of their injuries is not known.
