A 19-year-old man walked into the Nebraska Medical Center's emergency room early Wednesday suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said Jmarr McCowin arrived at the med center about 1:45 a.m. with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Authorities were investigating McCowin's report that he was shot near 42nd Street and Ames Avenue.
Tuesday afternoon, police said, a 23-year-old man, Tajuan Richard, was shot near 39th and Pinkney Streets.
Officers found a damaged gray Chevrolet Impala abandoned in a street in the area. Witnesses had reported that men in the gray car and a white car were possibly exchanging gunfire.
Police were told that Richard was taken to Creighton University Medical Center after the shooting. He told police that he was a passenger in a vehicle in the area of 40th Street and Ames Avenue when he heard gunshots and then felt a sharp pain.
His gunshot injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police said investigations into both shootings continue.
