A former Bellevue East High School teacher was ticketed Tuesday on suspicion of exchanging sexual messages with a juvenile on his cellphone.
Joseph D. Blackstad, 30, was cited on two misdemeanor counts of child abuse, Bellevue police said.
Blackstad also was ticketed on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a child.
He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Sarpy County Court in December.
Blackstad is no longer employed by the Bellevue Public Schools, police said in a statement.
A school resource officer learned of the allegations in September. Police issued a warrant for Blackstad's electronic devices last month.
Forensic examination of his phone revealed evidence that led to the issuing of the tickets, said Bellevue Police Chief Mark Elbert in a statement.
Blackstad allegedly had sexual communication with the minor in an application on his phone, Elbert said.
