Nebraska's biggest annual design competition, The Show, will celebrate its 22nd year this weekend.
The AIGA Nebraska event will take place Saturday at KANEKO, 1111 Jones St.
Doors open at 6 p.m.; judges speak at 6:30; exhibition opens at 7:30. AIGA members get in free. Admission for non-members is $8 in advance and $10 the day of the show. AIGA Nebraska will be accepting donations at the event for the Designing Opportunity Scholarship fund for Nebraska design students in need.
“This is our biggest event,” said Todd Cramer, director of communications for AIGA Nebraska. “It's the culmination of all design work around the entire state, not just Omaha and Lincoln.”
The work, which will be on display at KANEKO through Nov. 15, will include pretty much any type of design you could imagine:
Promotional design and advertising, illustration, posters, logo and identity systems, app design, motion and video graphics, books, publications, photography, Web, packaging, apparel, info design, experimental and more.
The three judges for the event will be Ann Willoughby, founder and chief creative director of Willoughby Design; Brian Singer, manager of the communication design team at Facebook; and Doug Powell, member of the leadership team at IBM Design.
As The Show's evolved over the years, the judges have begun speaking at the event itself, so entrants and attendees can see and hear from the heavy hitters in the design world.
“The event is a driver to bring the design community together,” Cramer said, “to interact and socialize with each other. It helps push us forward to the next year.”
