Amid concerns at home and abroad over the National Security Administration’s electronic eavesdropping, it’s perhaps poetic justice that a recent cellphone conversation by former NSA director Michael Hayden became a real-time Twitter feed. It seems Hayden chose an Amtrak train ride to give a background interview to a reporter, which was overheard by fellow passenger Tom Matzzie, a former official of the political organization MoveOn.org. Matzzie began tweeting about the too-loud conversation he was hearing. One would think that Hayden, who’s also a former CIA director, would know better than to talk about sensitive subjects where other people can hear you.
The most recent prescription drug drop-off in Council Bluffs yielded impressive results. A total of 486 pounds of unused, unwanted and expired drugs were collected, a record for the event. As health officials say, getting unneeded drugs out of medicine cabinets and off the streets is one of the best ways to limit abuse.
