VILLISCA, Iowa – A Villisca man faces prison time in connection with the sexual exploitation of a minor over the Internet.
Authorities arrested 60-year-old James L. McDaniel Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of child pornography and exhibition of obscene material to a minor, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
McDaniel allegedly engaged in an online relationship with a then-16-year-old girl in Tennessee and was able to coerce the teenager to send explicit pictures, according to Deputy Todd Dollen with the sheriff's office.
The child pornography found by law enforcement was separate from the pictures of the victim, Dollen said.
The charges are the result of a three-month investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and the Metropolitan Police Department of Nashville, Tenn.
McDaniel remains at the Montgomery County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
