Butler scores in overtime to defeat CU women

Butler’s Katie Griswold scored in the fifth minute of overtime to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 win over Creighton on Saturday.

Griswold’s goal, off an assist from Kelly Mahoney, came from 18 yards out.

Butler (11-5-2, 4-4) limited Creighton’s offense throughout the contest, holding the Jays to one shot on goal. In all, Butler outshot Creighton 17-5 and held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Creighton goalie Danielle Rice made eight saves before giving up Mahoney’s game-winner.

Creighton next plays at 1 p.m. Saturday, when the Bluejays host Xavier.
