Jays rally with 3 goals for first Big East road victory

INDIANAPOLIS — The Creighton men’s soccer team rallied with three goals in the second half, and the Bluejays picked up their first Big East road victory in a 3-2 win over Butler at the Butler Bowl Wednesday.

The win stopped a three-game skid for the Bluejays (7-5-2, 3-2-1), and helped Creighton leapfrog Butler in the Big East standings to move into fifth place.

Creighton sophomore Christian Blandon halted the Jays’ scoreless streak that dated back to Oct. 5 by scoring 48:48 into the game. Timo Pitter then broke the 1-1 tie in the 77th minute to put the Bluejays ahead for good. Junior Eric Miller capped the Jays’ scoring run with a goal at 86:40 to put CU up 3-1 before Butler notched a late goal in the final minute for the end result.
