PLEASANT HILL — Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with an armed burglary in a Des Moines suburb.
A husband and wife were watching television Saturday night when five men entered the home through a basement window and crept upstairs.
Officer Adam Choat said two men armed with handguns ordered the couple to the floor while the others searched the home. The men found the couple's teenage son upstairs and also ordered him to the floor.
They left the home with less than $200 cash, cellphones, a tablet computer and other electronics and three bags of Halloween candy.
The suspects were caught because a Polk County sheriff's deputy remembered encountering them at a gas station shortly before the home invasion. They face first-degree burglary charges.
