Denver edges Mavericks, extends streak

DENVER — Summit League-leading Denver defeated UNO 1-0 Saturday, pushing its unbeaten streak to nine games.

Zach Bolden scored in the 63rd minute for the Pioneers (8-3-3, 3-0-0). Reid Huraki and Cole Chapleski were credited with assists.

Denver goalie Oliver Brown had five saves and recorded his third consecutive shutout and fifth of the year. The Pioneers have blanked their opponents in five of their past seven games. UNO took 10 shots, compared to Denver’s 13. UNO goalie Matt Grosey had four saves.

UNO (3-8-1, 1-2-0) next will play at 4 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Oral Roberts. It will be the first game played at the new Caniglia Field.
