The Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce announced that Wendy Richey resigned as the chamber’s president.
“We wish her well in her future endeavors,” the chamber’s Board of Directors said in an email to members sent Monday about 11:30 a.m.
The details of Richey’s exit are unclear. A chamber employee said the chamber and board are not at liberty to discuss items the pertain to personnel.
The chamber has begun searching for a new president immediately.
Richey had been president of the Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce for two years.
Richey was appointed interim president in August 2011 after the board dismissed then-president Jane Nielsen.
Richey was confirmed as president on Oct. 7, 2011.
Before becoming president, she served as the chamber’s membership director.
In that role, she visited Sarpy County businesses and explained the benefits of chamber membership. Prior to joining the chamber, Richey was a corporate recruiter.
Richey did not attend Thursday’s annual banquet and awards ceremony.
She did not answer multiple calls to her home.
