CHICAGO (AP) — Former Husker and Omaha Central shortstop Ben Kline was sent to the Chicago White Sox, part of a deal the team completed with Tampa Bay that sent reliever Jesse Crain to the Rays in July.
The White Sox said Wednesday they also acquired left-handed pitching prospect Sean Bierman and cash from Tampa Bay.
Chicago dealt Crain to the Rays on July 29. He was on the disabled list with a strained shoulder at the time and did not pitch for Tampa Bay.
Kline, who started two years at Nebraska before transferring, and Bierman both played in Class A this season.
