Will you be a lucky one? The Crane Trust needs the public's help in spotting endangered whooping cranes as they migrate through Nebraska to their wintering grounds on the Texas Gulf Coast. Anyone spotting a whooping crane should call the Crane Trust's toll-free Whooper Watch phone number, 1-888-399-2824, to report key information from the sighting: exact location of the cranes, number of them, time and date they were observed, what they were doing (feeding, resting, flying, etc.), whether or not leg bands or transmitters or both were visible and in which direction the cranes were flying if they were airborne. Watchers must not disturb or influence the birds in any way. To learn more about the Crane Trust's Whooper Watch program, visit NebraskaNature.org or call 308-382-1820.
