DES MOINES (AP) — Police say a Des Moines man detained his girlfriend for 17 hours while physically assaulting her and threatening her with a machete.
The 34-year-old woman told police that she and 36-year-old Brian Michael Case began arguing in their home around 3 a.m. Wednesday. She said Case blocked her from leaving several times and eventually forced her into the basement.
The woman told police she eventually escaped and ran to a gas station. Case is accused of following her and bringing her back to their home. Witnesses at the gas station contacted police.
Case has been charged with domestic assault causing injury and false imprisonment.
