DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Davenport police say an officer shot a man after responding to a burglary report. The shooting happened Thursday after police responded to a report of someone breaking into two garages, then got a report of a man sleeping in a resident's car.
Davenport Police Maj. Don Schaeffer said officers encountered the man in an alley. Two officers apprehended him and as one officer frisked him on the ground, he found a gun.
The officer yelled for the man to not move, but he started running. He allegedly reached for his gun, prompting an officer to fire several shots.
The man, whose name wasn't released, was taken to a hospital. Information on his condition wasn't available.
