A Benson High School student brought a loaded gun to school Friday.
The student gave the gun to another student, said Officer James Shade, an Omaha police spokesman. No shots were fired.
School resource officers confiscated the weapon after finding the second student late in the morning, said Todd Andrews, spokesman for the Omaha Public Schools.
The school sent a letter to parents informing them of the incident. It said that neither student made any specific threat and that no one was hurt.
Andrews said both students were arrested.
The letter said students' safety was “maintained throughout this situation. Building staff responded quickly, efficiently, and effectively to ensure student safety.”
