Omaha authorities and dignitaries will honor citizens patrol unit members for their contributions next week.
Police Chief Todd Schmaderer, Mayor Jean Stothert, Douglas County Sheriff Tim Dunning and Omaha police officers will attend Tuesday's 18th annual Omaha Coalition of Citizen Patrols Recognition banquet.
Members of the coalition volunteer thousands of hours each year working with authorities to keep neighborhoods safe. Members also assist police and the sheriff's office with other key events in Omaha, such as the College World Series.
The banquet is set for at 6 p.m. at the Westside Community Conference Center, 3534 S. 108th Street.
