A while back we mentioned the admirable No Place for Hate initiative run by the Anti-Defamation League and aimed at promoting mutual respect among young people and addressing bullying. The effort relates to the increased need in Nebraska and Iowa to tackle suicide prevention. Kudos to Gordmans, which just announced that it raised $90,000 for No Place for Hate through a customer-donation campaign.
Americans, regardless of party, are up in arms about the partisan gridlock in Washington, yet look at the contrast with two other industrialized powers. The Germans just had a national election marked by a remarkable lack of disagreement, and here’s what a Canadian newspaper had to say this week about the political conditions in our northern neighbor: “When polled, Canadians are hard-pressed to single out one overriding issue that really has them angry.”
