Owners of a home in the Westside school district valued at $100,000 will pay an extra $34 a year in school property taxes under a measure approved Monday.
The school board voted 5-0, with one member absent, to approve a 3.4-cent increase in the district's property tax levy, up about 2.6 percent from last year.
The total levy will be $1.33 per $100 of assessed value for the 2013-14 school, up from last year's $1.30 tax levy.
The increase includes 2 cents for the district’s building fund to help cover maintenance costs.
Westside’s levy and that of the other 10 districts in the Learning Community is built on a 95-cent common levy redistributed to the districts based on a formula.
