WAVERLY, Iowa — Authorities are investigating how a man was killed by a piece of tree trunk in northeast Iowa.
The Bremer County Sheriff's Office said 66-year-old Barry Fink of Sumner was found dead Monday morning at a field northeast of Readlyn.
Investigators said Fink was using a chainsaw to cut wood from a large pile when part of a large tree trunk shifted and came to rest on him.
Authorities believe it was an accident. The State Medical Examiner's Lab in Ankeny is conducting an autopsy.
