The women of the correctional center in York, Neb., showed their support for the fight against breast cancer with a 5K walk and run.
An inmate self-betterment club sponsored the Saturday event, which drew 105 inmates at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women. The inmates, who make less than $2 a day in their institutional jobs, raised $922 to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation “Race for the Cure,” according to a representative of the correctional center.
The women followed a course designated within the secure perimeter at the prison.
