Last week I had the chance to go up inside the Woodmen Tower for the first time, for a story about Baird Holm. I'd wanted to see inside this building ever since About Schmidt.
But while the attorneys have great views, my favorite was in the ground floor lobby where there is a display about the building's construction and history, including this photo of downtown Omaha.
You can see the Gene Leahy Mall before it was the mall. The World-Herald building looks like it's under construction. UP's shiny headquarters isn't even a thought. ConAgra's riverfront campus is still the historic Jobbers Canyon. The library's there, but not the Starbucks.
