Chuck Hassebrook landed a “Big O” trio of endorsements Monday, as three former Omaha mayors endorsed his gubernatorial bid.
Former Mayors Mike Boyle, Mike Fahey and Jim Suttle threw their support behind Hassebrook, a fellow Democrat who is running against State Sen. Annette Dubas for the Democratic nomination.
“I'm proud to endorse Chuck today. He is focused on governing and problem solving, rather than promoting an ideological agenda, and he is the leader who will move our state forward as One Nebraska,” Boyle said.
Fahey said the 18 years that Hassebrook spent on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents and the 36 years he spent working with the Center for Rural Affairs — a nonprofit group that works to boost the state's small towns — made him the best candidate for governor.
This is the first time in more than two decades that Democrats have a competitive primary with two top-tier candidates.
