The University of Nebraska Medical Center will host two conferences on Parkinson’s disease Oct. 11 at the downtown DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 1616 Dodge St.
One will focus on patients and their caregivers and the other on health providers.
The meeting for patients and caregivers will start at 9:45 a.m. and will include discussions of fatigue in the disease, management of symptoms, deep brain stimulation and other topics. Registration is required by Oct. 7 by calling UNMC-based Karen Anderson of the American Parkinson Disease Association at 402-559-8839. The fee is $25. Check-in will start at 9 a.m. The meeting will end about 3:30 p.m.
The second Parkinson’s conference that day will start with check-in at 7:30 a.m. and talks beginning at 8 a.m. The audience for this meeting, with more technical information, is expected to be made up of health professionals. It will conclude about 3:45 p.m.
The fees for the second conference are varied — $120 for physicians, $85 for most other health providers and $50 for students. Continuing education credits will be provided. Attendees at that meeting must register by Oct. 1 by calling Brenda Ram at 402-559-9250.
