A Bellevue elementary school was locked down Thursday as police searched the area for an armed man.
Officers were called to the 2800 block of Wayne Street about 11:15 a.m. on the report of a woman banging on the window of a residence. The woman told police she was the victim of domestic violence by a man who was armed.
Police secured the area and notified Betz Elementary School, 605 W. 27th Ave., that a search for the man was underway.
The school went into lockdown for about one hour, said investigator Laurie Synowiecki, a Bellevue police spokeswoman.
Darien L. Davis, 19, was found inside a closet in a nearby residence.
Davis was booked on suspicion of third-degree assault, flight to avoid arrest and several other offenses.
