LINCOLN — The Nebraska soccer team opened Big Ten action with a 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten Michigan State at a rainy Nebraska Soccer Field on Thursday.
Husker freshman Jaycie Johnson scored the game-winning goal 11:17 into the match off a give-and-go opportunity from senior Jordan Jackson. The goal was Johnson’s sixth of the season and her second straight game-winner.
Nebraska goalkeeper Emma Stevens had three saves to hold the Spartans scoreless and help the Huskers earn their third shutout of the season.
Nebraska returns to action at 1 p.m. Sunday in Lincoln for its final non-conference match of the year against No. 14 Denver.
