If you're running the Omaha Marathon this weekend, you'll be running the bases, too.
HITS Endurance announced Monday that athletes will run through TD Ameritrade Park on the baseball diamond as part of the 10K, half marathon and full marathon races Sunday.
There will also be live music from a local DJ inside the stadium and runners will see themselves on the JumboTron before crossing the finish line on Mike Fahey Street.
“Running through the stadium is going to be so special for our athletes,” said HITS Endurance Race Director Mark H. Wilson. “It's going to be something to look forward to for our long-distance runners and a final dose of motivation for them to finish strong.”
Mike Ewoldt, a former Omaha Marathon race director and owner of Peak Performance running store, will be the announcer who welcomes runners to the finish line.
The 5K and "Friends & Family Mile" will be held Saturday and do not include running through the stadium.
Organizers said they worked closely with the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority to offer runners a unique experience at TD Ameritrade Park.
All distances at the HITS Omaha Marathon are certified by USATF, and the Marathon is an official Boston Marathon Qualifier.
