Zillow opened a new office in Lincoln on Thursday that eventually will double the space for its Mortech operations, a recently acquired Zillow business that provides software tools to the mortgage industry.
The new 7,500-square-foot office at 5940 S. 57th St. is a parking lot away from a similar-size space at 5960 S. 57th St., where Mortech had been based.
The old office will be renovated and provide room for future hires, chief operating officer Kathleen Philips of Seattle said while in Lincoln for a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Officials said the new Lincoln office would allow Zillow to eventually double its Mortech team of about 50.
Philips said the company is now seeking at least four more. Open positions are software engineer, system administrator, data integrity specialist and customer support representative.
Zillow bought Mortech — which was founded in Lincoln 26 years ago — in 2012.
“There is a fantastic team here, and we look forward to augmenting it with additional employees in Lincoln, given the availability of technology employees in this area,” Philips said.
Don Kracl, former owner of Mortech who now is Zillow’s vice president of mortgage tools, said Lincoln employees are excited about their new, contemporary space. Mortech’s software is used in Zillow’s Mortgage Marketplace, where borrowers connect with lenders to obtain loan options and the latest mortgage rates.
Seattle-based Zillow employs more than 685 people nationwide. It also has offices in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Irvine, Calif.
