Water bottle maker Rivé gets in on Fashion Week

A local company is dipping its toes into the world of fashion.

Rivé, a Hastings, Neb.-based water bottle manufacturer, has collaborated on a bottle with award-winning costume designer Patricia Field.

Field is probably best known for her work on HBO's “Sex and the City,” which won her an Emmy in 2002. She also maintains her own clothing label and store.

The custom-designed bottle was given away to celebrities and fashion editors during a New York Fashion Week event last weekend and Thursday night.

Jillian Craig, Rivé's founder and CEO, said the bottle may make its way into Allure magazine and several holiday gift guides.

Those interested in snagging a bottle designed by Field should keep an eye on the brand's website, www.riveusa.com. Craig says she hopes to have some available for sale in the next few weeks; there will also be a giveaway. Field may begin carrying the water bottle in her New York City boutique.

Craig said the brand has other collaborations with big name celebrities in the works.

“We have celebrities that are interested in green products and want to be eco-friendly and healthy,” Craig said.

Rivé is also hard at work on several new lines of bottles, including larger 22-ounce bottles as well as a sport line. These should be available in October. The bottles are sold nationally at Target as well as at select Bed, Bath and Beyond locations.
