OGALLALA — An effort is underway to expand the Lake McConaughy Visitor and Water Interpretive Center northeast of Ogallala in western Nebraska.
Chad Adams, treasurer of the Nebraska Water Center Foundation, said that the proposal would double the size of the center’s 850-square-foot conference room.
Adams said the expansion would allow the center to host larger events, noting the room can accommodate only about 20 people now.
Adams said an expansion would also allow the center to be used as headquarters for officials during emergencies or disasters.
The cost of the expansion is estimated at $350,000.
