A series neighborhood forums will be held this month and next, the final step in an information-seeking effort to develop a strategy for supporting neighborhoods in the wake of the February closing of the Omaha Neighborhood Center.
The effort, announced Saturday by Mayor Jean Stothert’s office, is being coordinated by the United Neighborhood Alliances of Omaha and facilitated by the University of Nebraska at Omaha Consortium for Organizational Research and Evaluation.
Earlier this summer, neighborhood alliance leaders participated in focus groups and then neighborhood association leaders answered an extensive survey. Now the forums will allow neighborhood residents to participate in the planning.
The forum schedule:
Wednesday: Benson Community Center, 6008 Maple St., 7 p.m.
» Sept. 17: UNO Alumni House, 6705 Dodge St., 6:30 p.m.
» Oct. 3: Salvation Army Kroc Center, 2825 Y St., 7 p.m.
» Oct. 10: Northwest Precinct Headquarters, 10245 Wiesman St., 7 p.m.
» Oct. 17: Millard Public Library, 13214 Westwood Lane, 7 p.m.
» Oct. 24: Turning Point Campus, 3223 N. 45th St., 6 p.m.
