BURLINGTON — A Burlington man was found guilty of first-degree murder in the August 2012 shooting death of his wife.
A jury found Chico Newman guilty on Friday. His attorney, Curtis Dial, said he will appeal the verdict.
A conviction of first-degree murder in Iowa carries an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole.
Newman, 39, fatally shot Crystal Newman, 32, during an argument at their Burlington home on Aug. 9, 2012. He was not arrested until this Feb. 25, when he was found at a motel near the Quad City International Airport in Moline, Ill.
