A cooldown's coming for kickoff.
The National Weather Service expects the 90-degree temperatures in the Lincoln area to cool by the 5 p.m. kickoff against Southern Mississippi. Lincoln may be in the mid- to low-80s by then.
Dave Eastlack, a meteorologist for the weather service in Valley, Neb., said he expects no rain in either Omaha or Lincoln this evening. The service's website said there is a 10 percent chance of a thunderstorm this evening in Lincoln.
As for showers that went through Omaha this afternoon, Eastlack said: "They've fizzled."
Although forecasters expected Omaha to hit 94 Saturday, it was in the low 80s at 3:15 p.m.
Eastlack said the cooler temperatures are attributable to cloud cover and a cool air mass out of the north.
