A Council Bluffs man died Friday after he was ejected from a pickup near Interstate 480 at the 30th Street westbound ramp, Omaha police said.
Matthew A. Doty, 19, was a passenger in the speeding vehicle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Evan J. Shiplett, 30, of Zanesville, Ohio, was driving a 1991 Chevrolet 2500 about 6 p.m. Friday when he lost control as he exited the Interstate at 30th Street, Sgt. Joe Collins said.
The pickup drove off the right shoulder and rolled.
Shiplett suffered chest soreness and a headache and was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center for observation, Collins said. He remained there Saturday night.
Reckless driving and speed are believed to have caused the accident, Collins said.
Another passenger, Jacob R. Levene, 18, of Neola, Iowa, walked from the scene and was driven to a hospital by his mother, though he was not injured, Collins said.
None of the occupants was using a seat belt, he said.
