A Denton, Neb., man and his 8-year-old son were injured in a hunting accident Sunday at the Yankee Hill Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster County.
Francisco Barbosa Almazan, 27, and his son were hit by pellets when a 23-year-old Omahan hunting in the same area fired at a dove, according to a release from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
Almazan was treated and released from Bryan LGH Medical Center West. His son, whose name was not released, was hospitalized overnight for observation, according to the release.
Authorities responded to the incident about 7:30 p.m.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission used the incident to remind hunters to be sure of their target and what lies beyond it.
