Omaha police are investigating a shooting and a stabbing early Sunday that sent a teenager and a 35-year-old man to local hospitals.
Officer James Shade, a police spokesman, said officers responded to the Nebraska Medical Center about 1:15 a.m. to talk to Rodderick T. Glass, 16, who had been wounded by gunfire. The teen arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle and told officers he didn’t remember what had happened.
Shade said investigators determined that Glass was driving in the area of 19th and Emmet Streets when someone in another vehicle began shooting at him. The victim’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Shade said.
About 1:25 a.m., officers were called to the area of 23rd and Castelar Streets to investigate the stabbing of Ernesto Ibarra. Shade said officers were told someone called 911 because Ibarra was trying to enter through a window where he believed a friend lived.
Ibarra, who appeared to be highly intoxicated, had multiple stab wounds. He told police he had been drinking and received a ride when someone stabbed him.
Ibarra was taken to the Creighton University Medical Center, where he was in serious condition.
