A man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds drove himself to a friend's house for help Sunday night.
Paramedics considered the man in critical condition en route to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he underwent surgery, police said. His identity and condition at the hospital were not immediately available.
At 8:42 p.m., rescuers were called to a house on 60th Street, north of Northwest Radial Highway, where they found the victim in the front yard. He had driven himself from a Burger King restaurant less than a mile to the north, at 60th and Ames Avenue.
A witness told police that a man in a black car fired at the victim, who was driving a red car out of the restaurant's parking lot. The witness said that he saw one shot fired, though the victim had multiple gunshot wounds, Sgt. Erich Hupka said.
