The Nebraska State Fair welcomed its one-millionth visitor Saturday morning since moving to Grand Island in 2010.
The lucky winners, according to a press release issued by Shaun Schleif, marketing director for the Nebraska State fair: Angela Lents and her family from Aurora, which also includes Clay, Angela's husband, and children Austin, 7, and Tajel, 4. The family arrived at the fair at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, when they were approached by Jana Kruger, chair of the Nebraska State Fair Board, the release said.
"It's wonderful to be the millionth visitors, but even better is that the Nebraska State Fair has welcomed one million visitors as the fourth year in Grand Island commences," said Clay Lents, according to the release.
Attendance at last year's Nebraska State Fair was 336,987. That's an increase over 2011 and 2010, and except for the fair's farewell year, significantly higher than the previous decade in Lincoln.
The State Fair started Friday and continues through Sept. 2 in Grand Island.
