A 33-year-old Grand Island woman was killed in an early Sunday morning car accident in western Grand Island.
Grand Island Police Sgt. Todd Dvorak said the woman was declared dead at the scene, but her name was not being released Sunday pending the notification of relatives.
The woman was riding in a 2005 Chrysler 300 driven by a 30-year-old man. The car was eastbound on West Old Highway 30 when it left the roadway, went into the ditch and struck a tree in the yard of a home.
The driver was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center and later life-flighted to Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Dvorak said. There was no information on the man’s condition Sunday evening.
The single-car accident was called into authorities at 1:28 a.m. Sunday morning.
